Mildred Susan Chapman (Henschel) VIEW PROFILE

Mildred Susan Chapman (Henschel)

Mildred Susan "Nana" Henschel, of Scottsville, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 1, 2011, with her husband and daughter by her side.

She was born on December 19, 1951, in Albemarle County, the daughter of J. Howard Chapman and Mildred J. Chapman.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 38 years, Dieter Henschel of Scottsville; two children, a daughter, Dietra Henschel also of Scottsville; a son, Erich Henschel and his wife, Allyson, and their daughter, Reily; her parents, J. Howard Chapman and Mildred Chapman; a sister, Jamesly "Jamie" Chapman, all of Crozet; a brother, Christopher Chapman and his wife, Sherry, and their daughters, Tiffany and Christine, all of Rustburg.

Susan's passion for children led her to be an elementary school teacher at B.F. Yancey Elementary for 30 years. She had a loving spirit, which was felt by all fortunate enough to know her. She and her granddaughter, Reily, also shared a special bond. Susan graduated from Albemarle High School in 1970, and received her Bachelor's degree in 1973, from James Madison University.

She was a lifetime member of Mooreland Baptist Church in North Garden and was actively involved with the youth programs there, including teaching Sunday school.

We wish to express our appreciation for the exceptional care given by Dr. Zazakos and the Hospice of the Piedmont. Others dedicated to her were the nurses on Floor 7 at Martha Jefferson Hospital.

We will miss her dearly, but in our heart of hearts, Susan's loving memory will remain.
